Areas of North Kildonan may be experiencing discoloured water for a while longer.

"A contractor working on Bonnor Avenue near De Vries Avenue hit a watermain, causing a large watermain break," the City of Winnipeg said on their website.

This break is causing discoloured water for customers in the area.

Jeff Browaty, the City Councillor for the North Kildonan Ward, said on social media that "work is suspended and is currently in the middle of repairs."

The break appears to have caused sediment to loosen into the water and flow through the affected customers homes, according to the City.

"We apologize for the inconvenience to the public," the City of Winnipeg commented. "City crews have isolated this section of the water main and are working to repair the break."

The City recommends not using discoloured water for any purpose that requires clean water, like drinking or preparing food.
