From the Manitoba Stampede to the Cripple Creek Music Festival, there are all kinds of options for you and your family around Southern Manitoba this week.

Tuesday, July 18

  • A free family friendly Lacrosse event is at 6:30 pm at Morden Access Event Centre. Here is your chance to learn about Lacrosse and to give it a try. Register at Morden Recreation Office.

Thursday, July 20

  • Learn how to identify various weeds and their uses at 6:30 pm, in the village of Neubergthal. Participants will meet at the Bergthal Schoolhouse before heading out on the weed walk. Cost is $20. Register at 204-304-1624 or visit neubergthalheritagefoundation.com.
  • Winkler Senior Centre is hosting a waffle breakfast from 9 am until noon. Cost is $7.50 for Belgian waffles with fruit, sauce, whipped cream and coffee.
  • A free summer concert at Bethel Heritage Park takes place at 6:30 pm featuring the Jayme Giesbrecht Jazz Combo, inflatable bouncers for kids, as well as food and beverages available for purchase by The Bunker.

Thursday to Sunday

  • The Manitoba Stampede is happening in Morris. Take in the rodeo, midway, concessions, kids zone, ag fair and more. Visit Manitobastampede.ca for a full list of events or to order tickets.

Friday to Sunday

  • Pembina Valley Fur Council Rendezvous is at Stanley Park, south of Morden. Come and enjoy some old fashioned family fun including knife and tomahawk throwing, rifle competition, black powder shooting, craft tables and more. A hog roast will be served on Friday and a fish fry on Saturday.

Friday, July 21st Deadline to RSVP

  • Carman United Church is hosting a community discussion on poverty reduction July 25th from 10am until noon. The input of this event will be shared with the Minister of Families, Children and Social Development to help shape the Government of Canada’s Poverty Reduction Strategy. Saturday, July 22

  • “Blues in the Park” is happening at Altona Park. Gates open at noon with the first band performing at 1 pm. Advance tickets are $30 or pay $40 at the gate. Kids 12 and under have free admission. There will be food vendors available and you’re asked to bring a “Tin for the Bin” in support of the local food bank. You can get your tickets at local merchants or by visiting the blues in the park Facebook page.
  • A garden celebration tour is happening at Carman Dufferin Historical Museum. These self-guided tours of area gardens are open from 1 to 5 pm. Register at the museum. Cost is $15.

Sunday, July 23

  • The 36th annual Cripple Creek Music Festival. A gospel morning begins at 10 am followed by the music festival at noon. Featured artists include Lazy Creek Express, First Stop Heaven, Homeland Harmony, Stew and Juanita Clayton, Virginia Ridge and more! A food booth will be on site and bring your lawn chairs. The festival location is 6.5 miles south of Morden on Road 27 and look for driveway #6102.
  • Southern Manitoba HOG chapter is holding its 5th annual Toy Run. You’re invited to join them with your motorcycle to deliver the toys to the Children’s Hospital. They will be leaving Gaslight Harley Davidson at 11:30 am. Toy drop off locations are available at all branches of Access Credit Union, Gaslight Harley Davidson, Giant Tiger Morden, Crystal City Co-op, Winkler Floor Fashions and Image Promotions.
