Many families are purging their house of old toys to make room for the new ones they got over Christmas and one charity would love to pass those old toys on to new owners.

Hands of Hope is known for supplying people with basic household items, like counters, couches, or bed frames. But they also want to give families hope and bring a smile to them.

That is why Hands of Hope tries to stick toys in every delivery that they make to give to the kids.

"[People using Hands of Hope] are low-income, they are disabled, escaping abusive relationships," said Jude Jordan, Transportation Manager at Hands of Hope. "If we can give them anything that will give them a little comfort, that is what we will do."

This is the time of year many parents will get rid of their old toys, as many have been replaced by brand new toys.

"Kids get a lot of toys they [may] not need at this time of year," Jordan said. "There [are kids] who are getting nothing."

While you can bring your items to a local thrift store or sell them on websites like Kijiji, Jordan says there are people who can't get to the thrift store to purchase these toys, or can't purchase them (or get) online at all.

"We come across the people who can't get to the thrift store, they are stuck at home," Jordan said.

Hands of Hope is looking for toys that are still in good shape that your family would be excited to receive. Jordan says that there is a need and people are very open and happy to receive these gifts.

"It's nice to give," Jordan reminded us.
