Emergency Social Services is helping the occupants of a home find temporary housing after a fire.

Early Friday morning the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) was alerted to a fire on a street off of Main Street. Arriving at the 200 block of Forest Avenue at 4:10 a.m, crews say smoke escaping the home. At this time, all of the occupants had self-evacuated.

Crews declared the fire under control 28 minutes later.

Emergency crews learnt one person at the scene required hospital care, where they were sent and are now in stable condition.

Crews could not determine the cause of the fire and an investigation is underway.

The other residents of the home are now displaced. The City of Winnipeg's Emergency Social Services team is looking for temporary housing supports.
