WFPS battled a duo of fires on Logan Avenue Monday night eight minutes apart.

At 8:05 p.m., firefighters were called to a fire in a vacant home in the 600 block of Logan Avenue. Crews found heavy black smoke coming from the structure when they arrived. They entered and fought the blaze from the inside and declared it under control at 8:22 p.m.

Crews completed a search of the home and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

At 8:13 p.m., WFPS responded to a call in the 500 block of the avenue after a monitored fire alarm in a commercial building.

The building's sprinkler system was able to keep the small fire under control, and crews were quickly able to extinguish the remaining flames.

No injuries were reported.

Both fires are under investigation.
