A Manitoba teen showed up at Siloam Mission last week with a truckful of socks.

Faith Nickel is just 16-years-old, but she's spent a quarter of her life giving back.

The Mooshorn, Manitoba teen said in a video tweeted by Siloam Mission that she's been doing a sock drive for the mission for four years, now.

"I've been doing it because the winters are really bad here, and it's sad to see everyone out on the street," Nickel said in the video. "I want to help them as much as I can."

Nickel collects donations of new socks from people in her community, as well as money from local businesses and then buys socks on her own.

"Socks are what lots of people need, so I thought I can just give them what I can."

"It's young people like Faith that truly make our city - and the world - a better place for everyone!" Siloam Mission said in the tweet.

Siloam Mission also tweeted they are currently in urgent need of:

  • Men & women's underwear (new and still packaged)
  • Adult winter boots
  • Steel toe work boots
  • Winter gloves
  • Adult winter coats
