Gospel singer Donnie McClurkin took to social media to thank God after surviving a serious car accident last week.

McClurkin says that he lost consciousness while driving just after midnight on December 12. As a result, his car crashed into a concrete barrier.

"Totaled (sic) the car...hospitalized, going through a myriad of tests.....But I’m alive!!!" he wrote.

"Two human angels followed my swerving car with their emergency blinkers onto (sic) stop traffic."

He doesn't remember anything leading up to the accident. "I remember none of it except those two angels pulling me out of the passengers (sic) side of the crumbled TOTALED (sic) car..airbags deployed...crushed metal and Fiberglas!!

"I AM ALIVE!!!!" McClurkin wrote from his hospital bed, in thanks.

"Somewhat mangled, stitches on left thumb, sprained wrist, hurt knee, but I’m still here! God and two angels saved my life! I owe them... I am still here by the grace of God! Thank you, Lord...thank you!"

Tens of thousands of people have replied to the singer praying for him, and encouraging him.

One wrote, "In 2009, God used you through one of your worship songs to minister to me in one of the darkest days of my life. Through that experience I came to Christ and now I am a pastor."

On December 14 McClurkin posted pictures of his totalled vehicle.

He also said that he "overrode doctors and sisters advice and flew to KENYA today."
