The Government of Manitoba has ordered that all non-critical businesses be closed as of 12:01 a.m. on April 1, and remain closed until 12:01 a.m. on April 14.

News of the closures crashed the government's website Monday afternoon as people rushed to find the list of what is considered a critical business.

Some of the businesses allowed to open still:

  • Grocery stores and convenience stores
  • Banks and Credit Unions
  • Hardware stores
  • Pet supply stores
  • Gas stations
  • Transportation companies
  • Hotels and motels
  • Restaurants (take out only)
  • Canada Post and other shipping companies

Restaurants that remain open must ensure that staff practice physical distancing. Other businesses that open must also continue to ensure the customers are distanced, and limit the number of people in the business at once.
