For the second year, some of the homeless in Winnipeg are being blessed with a fresh cut for free.

Twice a year, Lighthouse Mission opens up their doors for a special event that was started by Snippets of Love.

"We will be blessing the homeless and less fortunate of Winnipeg with free haircuts and a chance to get their nail dones," said BrendaLee Reimer, the founder of Snippets of Love. "[We're giving them] a chance to feel good."

Reimer is bringing 10 hairdressers and two estheticians to Lighthouse Mission on Sunday, October 22 to bless a number of the homeless in our core area with these haircuts and a chance to have their nails cleaned up.

"When you're down and out, you don't take [or have] time to take care of yourself," Reimer said. "[And] the money they have is precious to them, it's food."

Since starting this two years ago, Reimer has seen a lot of hope and happiness come out of both the staff who are taking care of the clients and the clients themselves.

"I see love pour out every time I go [to Lighthouse Mission]," she said.

Reimer is still looking for one more hairdresser to give up their time on Sunday, between 1:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. If you are interested, call 204-332-2021 or pass this on to someone else who may be interested.
