Melissa Helser, part of the Bethel Music team, is sharing the beautiful story of how her newest song came to be.

The song 'Revival's in the Air' was released in May of 2020, written by Helser after a family breakthrough.

"I wrote it this last fall for my brother who has been struggling with addiction for a really long time," says Helser.

She shares that her family had come to a breaking point.

"Me and Jonathan and our community had started intentionally praying for a breakthrough. That he would humble his heart and ask for help."

While playing worship music on her ukelele one evening, Helser's phone buzzed.

"It was my brother. All it said was, 'I made the call. I'm going to get help.' I was totally overcome and just started singing."

'Revivals in the Air' just started coming out of her.

"I literally felt the presence of God fill our living room. The kids were here, Jonathan was here, and we were all so overcome that the Lord answered our prayer."

The next morning Hesler immediately began working on the new song and the title 'Revivals in the Air' came out.

"I literally couldn't stop smiling and I felt so much joy, so I sang it again."

Helser asked God for the meaning of what she was singing, as in that moment, she herself didn't understand it.

"The Lord spoke to me and said, 'Don't you realize, Melissa. You are experiencing the truest form of revival. Which is when prodigals turn and run home.'"

Helser gave the song to her brother on his birthday and the two of them wept and laughed together.

"My prayer for this song is that it would be the healing balm of what reconciliation looks like. Also that it would be a whirlwind of joy for your families, for your marriages, for your cities, for your church communities. My prayer for this whole album is that it would feel like heaven coming close."
