Billboard's year-end charts have named Kanye West and Lauren Daigle as top artists of 2020 in Gospel and Christian music.

After more than a year in the top spot, West's 2019 album, Jesus Is King, earned West a second year as the top Gospel music artist, the Christian Post reports.

Jesus Is King was West's first faith-themed album. It spent time at the top of the Gospel, Christian and all-genre Billboard 200 music charts after its release.

Kirk Franklin and Tasha Cobbs Leonard ranked second and third in the overall Gospel artist of the year ranking, with Cobbs Leonard named Billboard's Top Female Gospel Artist of the year.

West also was named the Top Male Gospel Artist.

Daigle also has held a top position in the Billboared charts sine her 2018 album release, Look Up Child.

This year, Daigle was named Billboard's Top Christian Artist of 2020 and Top Christian Female Artist of the year.

"You Say," Daigle's hit from 2018, remains on the Christian charts as 2020 nears its end. Daigle has also spent time interacting with fans throughout the year through social media and offering encouragement through the pandemic.

Look Up Child was a crossover hit when it debuted in 2018 in the No. 3 spot on the Billboared 200 chart, beating out popular secular musicians like Drake and Ariana Grande.

Daigle has remained a Billboard favourite since, broken several records, and her music continues to thrive with both Christian and secular audiences.

"I want people who encounter my music, whether through a live appearance or on an album, to connect to something greater than themselves," Daigle says.

"I want the lyrics of my songs to spread love and foster unity. I hope those listening hear something that stirs them to be a light in this world and bring a smile to someone’s face."

Billboard says it's year end music recaps represent data computed for each artist, title, label, and music contributor on its weekly charts from Nov. 23, 2019 to Nov. 14, 2020.
