Lorne Korol says a Grey Cup win is not the only victory to celebrate this week.

The 21-week CFL season came to a close on Sunday night as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers defeated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

In addition to seeing their physical training be rewarded, the Blue Bombers and Korol saw their spiritual and biblical training be rewarded with the Grey Cup.

"There was no doubt that we had been striving all year to have a next-game mentality.

"One of our things is 'Stay humble, hustle hard for our bible study group."

As part of his involvement with Athletes in Action (AIA), Lorne and the Bombers from his bible study attended the AIA Grey Cup breakfast.

This was AIA's chance to spread the Gospel and share the work they do with Athletes across Canada.

"The breakfast was phenomenal," says Korol.

"No doubt the highlight for us was that Drake Nevis won the Gord Barwell Award."

This award is given to the CFL player who exhibits exemplary Christian conduct and leadership both on and off of the field.

Korol says, "He is a phenomenal player too - he is an amazing defensive tackle - and you put that all together. I may be a little biased, but I think he is the total package."

Korol encourages Christians that, "Everything that we do  - whether it is football, business, teaching, or being at home - we can all serve others in an exceptional manner.

"I think that is the key to being true champions, is being able to be a true servant of the Lord and serving others."

Since the breakfast and the win on Sunday, Korol says the last week has been a whirlwind.

"Sunday was surreal and a big blessing for me was having my wife Heather come down to the field for the celebration after the game."

Korol says, "I was blessed enough to be on one of the trucks with our coaches like Richie Hall.

"We were just so excited to see how many people are about our football team."

Korol is now shifting his focus to Winnipeg's NHL and AHL hockey teams. In this new season, he asks for prayer: "Rest regeneration and recovery.

"And that our light would shine with the Jets and the Moose. Those are good men as well, so it would sure be nice to bring three cups to Winnipeg this year - all three teams."
