One man is dead an another is in custody after police responded to a serious incident on Tuesday.

The Winnipeg Police Service says they were called to a home in the 100 block of Middle Gate just after 7:30 a.m. When police arrived they found a deceased male with stab wound injuries.

The victim has been identified as Michael Bruyere, 34, of Winnipeg.

Members of the Homicide Unit continued with the investigation and were able to locate a suspect outside of a convenience store in the 600 block of McPhillips Street on Tuesday afternoon.

Police say that the victim and suspect were known to each other. They allege that the two men were at the Middle Gate residence during the early hours of the morning at which time a dispute occurred, and the victim was stabbed.

The 26-year-old suspect, who is from Winnipeg, has been charged with second degree murder.
