Mounties are searching for a man charged with arson and three counts of 2nd Degree Murder following a weekend house fire in Portage la Prairie. Police say the suspect was last seen in Winnipeg, and believe he is still in the area.

During the early hours of Sunda, April 10, officers responded to a report of a house fire on 7th Street SE in Portage la Prairie.

When officers arrived, the Portage la Prairie Fire Department was already on the scene and had entered the home to ensure the safety of all residents. 

The search resulted in three deceased individuals being located inside the home.

They have been identified as a 32-year-old woman, a 6-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy. All three victims are from Portage la Prairie and from the same family. (A mother and her two children.)

The investigation has determined the victims sustained injuries that were not associated with the fire. 

Their deaths have been confirmed to be the result of homicide.

On Tuesday, April 12, Trevis Mcleod, 50, was charged with arson and three counts of 2nd Degree Murder.

The Manitoba RCMP and Winnipeg Police Service are actively searching for Trevis Mcleod.

Mcleod was seen in Winnipeg on Monday, April 11 and Tuesday, April 12. It is believed that he remains in the Winnipeg area. He is considered dangerous and should not be approached. 

Anyone who may have seen Trevis or has information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately.
