The province claims the workforce saw a boost of 6,500 more jobs this January, the highest in one month since April 2008.

The Government of Manitoba is attributing the increase to its Economic Growth Action Plan. They plan to see an additional 40,000 jobs across the province within the next four years.

“We continue to create a business-friendly environment and our plan to grow the private sector for the benefit of all Manitobans is working,” Premier Brian Pallister says in a release.

According to Statistics Canada, Manitoba currently has the second-lowest unemployment rate in Canada.

Pallister attributes "growth and business confidence" to Manitoba's high employment rate.
