The Manitoba government says 132 healthcare workers in the Philippines have been offered jobs in the province.

They include 73 registered nurses, 14 licensed practical nurses and 45 healthcare aides.

A recent report showed that an increasing number of people are leaving emergency rooms in Winnipeg without being seen.

The province says they could be in Manitoba by this summer and start work shortly after.

The nurses would be hired through the provincial nominee program, which admits workers whose skills are needed by Manitoba's labour market.
