Disaster Financial Assistance is being given to eligible municipalities to help people recover from October's storm.

Premier Brian Pallister announced today that the Government of Manitoba will be releasing financial aid to residents, business owners, and farmers.

Pallister is "confident the impacts of the fall 2019 storm will be eligible for federal funding."

These funds are only available for expenses that are uninsurable and must follow Disaster financial assistance guidelines.

Those receiving aid are eligible to claim up to $240,000. All claims will have a 20% deductible from the Government of Manitoba.

The storm damaged over 30,000 trees and an estimated tens of millions of dollars worth of damage. It was the first time the province activated the Red River Floodway in the fall.
