It's time for everyone to find out who will be the first-ever representative of Canada for Mixed Doubles Curling in South Korea next month.

There were six draws to open up the bonspiel in Portage la Prairie yesterday.

With all the big names involved, it's hard to figure out who the crowd favourite will be.

Being a Manitoba favourite, many will be cheering for five-time Canadian champ and 2014 Olympic gold-medalist Jennifer Jones who has teamed up with Mark Nichols (regular third for Brad Gushue) from St. John's, N.L. The pair scored five over the first two ends and went on to a 9-3 win over Jason Gunnlaugson and Shannon Birchard in the opening draw yesterday.

The extra dynamics should really add to the event as there are husband and wife and significant other teams as well as players who will be matching up against their usual teammates.

The different rules for mixed doubles as opposed to the regular four-person team, which encourages all offence all the time, should also add to the excitement.
