A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the southeast as the autumn season kicks off.

[Update 4:20 p.m.] The severe thunderstorm warning has been lifted in:

  • Brandon - Neepawa - Carberry - Treherne

[Update 3:45 p.m.] Warnings and watches have been added to southern Manitoba. Places under a severe thunderstorm warning now include:

  • Morden - Winkler - Altona - Morris
  • Sprague - Northwest Angle Provincial Forest
  • Steinbach - St. Adolphe - Emerson - Vita - Richer
  • Whiteshell - Lac du Bonnet - Pinawa
  • Bissett - Victoria Beach - Nopiming Prov. Park - Pine Falls
  • City of Winnipeg
  • Duglad - Beausejour - Grand Beach
  • Portage la Prairie - Headingly - Brunkild - Carman
  • Selkirk - Gimli - Stonewall - Woodlands

Warnings have been issued in:

  • Killarney - Pilot Mound - Manitou
  • Brandon - Neepawa - Carberry - Treherne

[Update 3:30 p.m.] The City of Winnipeg is now under a severe thunderstorm watch, with strong wind and large hail possible.


For a second time this week, severe thunderstorm watches have been issued in Manitoba, this time only affecting the southeast. Areas affected include:

  • Morden - Winkler - Altona - Morris
  • Sprague - Northwest Angle Provincial Forest
  • Steinbach - St. Adolphe - Emerson - Vita - Richer
  • Whiteshell - Lac du Bonnet - Pinawa

These storms are capable of producing strong wind gusts and large hail. The system is making it's way through Minnesota and expected to clip Manitoba late this afternoon and throughout the evening.
