The coach of the NBA 2024 World Champion, Boston Celtics ensured God was front and centre in their recent win.

While his players were celebrating their win, head coach Joe Mazzulla donned a t-shirt that read, 'But First Let Me Thank God.'

"It's a blessing," said Mazzulla in an interview following the game. "I don't deserve it, but because of grace, I'm here. God has put us in control of this responsibility, this ownership this organization and it's our job to move it along. I'm just really grateful for everyone who helped us get here."

Mazzulla, who has only been the coach for the Celtics for two years, has no problems sharing his faith. In a recent interview, he was asked about his feelings about this championship being the first game since 1975 where two black head coaches were squaring off against one another. Instead of the typical response, Mazzulla piped up and said, 'I wonder how many of those have been Christian coaches?'

In a separate interview over a year ago, Mazzulla was asked by a reporter about his thoughts on the royal family attending one of the Celtics games.

He responded with, "Jesus, Mary, Joseph? I’m only familiar with one royal family. I don’t know too much about that one. But hopefully, they’re Celtic fans.”

The Celtics, who defeated the Dallas Mavericks 106-88 in the championship game, finished the 2023-24 season with the best record in the NBA, 64-18.
