Manitoba's police watchdog says no charges will be laid against two Winnipeg officers for an arrest in which a 25-year-old man was injured.

The Independent Investigation Unit says use of force was justified when the suspect came at the officers with a two-by-four and tried to push them down a warehouse stairwell in December 2017.

The unit says the officers used a stun gun without effect and struck the man in the face and upper body as they struggled to control him.

He was hospitalized with a broken jaw, broken nose and bleeding in the brain.
