Two up-and-coming Christian artists decided to release a fun song on social media about their affection for Steven Curtis Chapman and it's turned into more than they could have hoped.

Coby James and Joseph O’Brien are young men hoping to make it big in the Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) scene. Together they run a podcast called the COJO show, short for the first part of each name.

The two release short songs on their social media, and one of their latest was a verse about their 'CCM hero' Chapman.

A short while after releasing their first verse and chorus, James and O'Brien saw that Chapman liked their post. Thrilled, they promptly wrote a second verse. The momentum continued to snowball and as a complete surprise, Chapman agreed to write a song with them.

"There were multiple surreal moments where I was like, 'This is happening, and this is such a blessing.' It was the coolest blessing--it was amazing," says James in a video.

James has released singles like 'Happier' in 2019 and 'Brand New' in 2021. O'Brien is the son of Michael O’Brien, former lead singer of NewSong. O'Brien also auditioned on America's Got Talent in front of Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell, making it to the quarterfinals before being cut.

"Thank you @stevencurtischapman. This means more to us than you possibly know. We have looked up to you for years and have no words," the pair posted to Instagram.

The initial reply from Chapman to the pair was a short song about 'writing a banger' together. Their shock and surprise are palpable.

K-LOVE radio put the three musicians together, surprising James and O'Brien, while also allowing them to have a songwriting session together. The single is yet to be released.
