The 53-year-old pilot of a small airplane is dead following a crash in the Parkland region earlier this week.

The Manitoba RCMP says that the Swan River RCMP detachment was called to reports of the crash on June 20, 2024, at approximately 9:40 p.m. Emergency personnel responded to an area north of Minitonas, in the Rural Municipality of Minitonas-Bowsman.

Mounties attended and located a small single-engine airplane in a field east of the Lenswood Highway.

The lone occupant, a man from the RM of Minitonas-Bowsman, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Emergency Medical Services.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has been notified and is investigating the cause of the crash. The area is approximately 345 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg.
