Two people are in police custody following an early morning traffic stop Saturday netted a large cache of drugs valued at over $30,000.

The Winnipeg Police Service says that on November 16, 2019, at approximately 1:30 a.m., members of the Guns & Gangs Unit conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle in the 600 block of Broadway.

The female driver was taken into custody for failing to comply with a court order. A male passenger was also arrested for two outstanding arrest warrants.

Police then searched the woman's purse and found 34 grams of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $1,700.

Police then searched the vehicle and found a safe inside the car. Police seized the safe and were able to open it at a later time. The WPS says that safe was found to contain items that include:

- Approximately 589 grams of methamphetamine (estimated street value of $29,450)

- 27 Xanax pills (estimated street value of $135)

- 27 Ritalin pills (estimated street value of $135)

- Approximately 2 grams of cocaine (estimated street value of $160).

- Approximately $241 in cash

- Drug packaging

- Scales

A 40-year-old woman from Winnipeg has been charged with:

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Alprazolam

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Ritalin

- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

- Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance by Judge/Justice (x5)

- Drive without licence or with invalid licence (Highway Traffic Act)

A 39-year-old male from Winnipeg has been charged with:

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Alprazolam

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Ritalin

- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

- Fail to Comply with Probation Order

He was also processed on two outstanding arrest warrants.
