The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) is looking for a 17-year-old male from Winnipeg after a man was assaulted by a group of teenagers.

On June 16, 2024, at around 9:00 p.m., General Patrol officers from the East District, with the assistance of the Tactical Support and K9 Units, responded to a call as a report was made that a man was assaulted by a group of teenagers. The assault happened in the 500 block of Besant Street.

The man who was assaulted, a 19-year-old, told officers that five teenagers followed him off the bus when he got off at Munroe Avenue and Besant Street.

The three girls and two boys confronted the man at knifepoint before they assaulted him and stole his belongings. The group recorded a video of the attack and then ran away.

The victim told police he didn't need any further medical attention.

The Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation and they identified five suspects. The police determined that there may have been familiarity between the victim and some of the suspects, although the attack was believed to be a crime of opportunity.

Between June 16-18, police arrested four individuals who are now facing the following charges:

  • A 17-year-old female (Robbery, Possess Weapon)
  • An 18-year-old female (Robbery, Possess Weapon, Breach of
