A 33-year-old man is in custody after he sexually assaulted a woman in North Point Douglas.

On Sunday at around 11 a.m., Winnipeg police say a woman was taking out the trash at a public resource centre in the 100 block of Disraeli Freeway, when a man approached her, touched her in an inappropriate sexual manner and then grabbed hold of her shirt, preventing her from leaving. She eventually managed to escape and ran back into the resource centre where she called the police.

When officers arrived, the man was still in the area and was placed under arrest.

The same man was arrested earlier in the week after he was caught exposing himself while under the influence of methamphetamines.

The 33-year-old man was charged with sexual assault. He remains in custody.
