A group of teens are facing several charges after allegedly robbing a convenience store and spraying an employee with bear spray.

Last last night, three teens entered a convenience store in the 100 block of Marion Street.

The teens then chose and gathered various food and beverage items. The three teens then began exiting the store with the unpaid merchandise, spraying an employee with bear spray as they left.

Winnipeg Police Service officers, along with the K9 Unit, arrived at 11:55 p.m. and began looking for the three suspects. The group was then found at a nearby hotel, along with a can of bear spray and the stolen goods.

A 16-year-old is being charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of release order (x5)

The 16-year-old was taken into custody.

A 15-year-old is being charged with:

  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Fail to Comply with Sentence

A 17-year-old is facing the following charges:

  • Robbery
  • Possession of a Weapon
  •  Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon

The 15 and 17-year-old are both released on an Undertaking.
