Sainte-Anne's police chief says a doctor who is currently under investigation is facing additional charges after more victims have come forward in the past year.

Dr. Arcel Bissonnette, who was 61 at the time, was charged with six counts of sexual assault in November. Since then, Chief Marc Robichaud says further complaints against the doctor have been placed.

Bissonnette is now facing 16 more charges of sexual assault.

At the time of the initial announcement one year ago, police said the six charges were in relation to events happening between 2014 and 2017 at the Sainte-Anne Hospital and at a Sainte Anne medical centre.

None of the allegations have been proved in court. Robichaud is unable to comment further.
