Gateway Christian Community Inc is selling its old school building to the province but the school will be far from empty.

The King's School has grown to educate over 300 students in a private, Christian setting. The school is now outgrowing the facility and will be moving on to its third location.

The facility, located at 851 Panet Road, is being sold to the Province of Manitoba as part of the province's initiative to create 20 new schools. The purchase, according to Education Minister Kelvin Goertzen, will save the province $8.7 million after renovations.

“This represents a true win-win opportunity and is a credit to the officials at Division Scolaire Franco-Manitobaine and Gateway Christian Community Inc. who have been creative in putting the needs of their students first,” Goertzen says.

The King's School's new facility is currently underway in West St. Paul, but the private school and DSFM have come up with a plan that benefits both parties.

“This is a great arrangement that will see Gateway Christian Community Inc. and The King’s School continue to offer the educational, community and faith-based programming at the site for the duration of the shared-use agreement,” Goertzen says.
