Three men are dead after separate water incidents.

On Friday afternoon, a 39-year-old Winnipeg man was with his family on the shore of the Whitemouth River when he slipped, falling into the flowing river. Nearby people tried to reach the man, including a bystander in a canoe. The canoer was able to grab the man, pulling him to shore. Someone then began CPR.

After 3:30 p.m., Lac du Bonnet RCMP arrived at Elma Bridge crossing. The man was then pronounced dead.

Later in the evening at the Portage Diversion on Lake Manitoba, a 17-year-old boy was swimming with friends. The boy entered the water from the beach, spinning off of a sandbar and pulled deeper into the water, east of the division. He then went under the water.

The teen's friends pulled him to shore when a bystander began CPR on the unconscious teen. Emergency medical crews arrived, providing medical care. When officers arrived at 7:10 p.m., the boy was pronounced dead.

Around the same time at Reynolds Pond, near Richer, a 24-year-old man and two friends were swimming. The 24-year-old from Steinbach went swimming onto a little island that is approximately 100 yards from the shore. Changing his mind, the swimmer turned around. Struggling, he went underwater on his way back to shore. Friends swam out to help but the man never resurfaced.

Civilian boaters began searching as RCMP arrived at around 7 p.m. but the boaters and officers were unable to find him.

On Saturday, the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team was joined by the man's friends as officers used the RCMP underwater Remote Operated Vehicle at the pond. After searching where he was last seen, the man was found deceased.
