Steinbach RCMP are reminding motorists to please drive with extra caution today.

RCMP have reported numerous collisions in the southeast today.

Tara Seel says officers are reporting roads as being slippery and slushie with poor visibility and Highway 52 being reported as particularly bad, as is Provincial Road 311.

"The highway is not closed but RCMP are asking drivers to drive with caution and just be aware of the conditions. Maybe if you don't have to be out on the road right now, maybe stay home. At the very least, if you're going to drive, drive with caution."

Because of the gusty north wind, roads running east/west are in worst condition right now.

"It's always good to have some safety gear in your car," Seel said. "Warm winter clothing, blankets, that type of thing. If you're going to head out on the road, a fully charged cell phone or a way to charge your cell phone so you can call for help. Let someone know what route you're taking and when you plan to arrive at your destination so if you're not there they know to contact authorities and we can come looking for you."
