Fire crews remain at the scene of what witnesses tell CHVN is a "large fire" at a business in West Winnipeg, early Thursday morning.

Firefighters were called to the structure fire on Loudoun Road south of Wilkes Avenue around 3:50 a.m.

When crews arrived on scene, large flames and heavy smoke could be seen pouring out of two commercial buildings.

Crews had to use water tankers to shuttle water to the scene, as the fire was outside the City of Winnipeg water district.

A nearby adjacent home was evacuated as a precaution. No injuries were reported.

Police closed down Wilkes Avenue between Loudon Road and Elmhurst Road, but it has since been re-opened.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
