Police have closed a stretch of Roblin Boulevard Monday evening after a truck and train collided at a crossing.

The Manitoba RCMP says that they were called to the area of Roblin Boulevard and Highway 334 in Headingley just after 4:30 p.m. 

A truck collided with a CP Rail train at the crossing and was pushed onto the bridge going over the Assiniboine River. The Winnipeg Paramedic and Fire Service Water Rescue Unit is on scene for the safety of rescue workers.

STARS responded to the scene a short time later. A witness says they saw the helicopter circling the scene but then left without landing. There has been no word on injuries of anyone involved, or how many people were in the truck or train.

The RCMP has closed Roblin boulevard from Alboro Street to Highway 334. 

Highway 334 is closed between Keough Avenue. and Roblin Boulevard.

Officers and emergency services personnel will be on scene for an extended period of time. Motorists are asked to avoid the area.

The RCMP is being assisted by CP Police, WFPS and EMS personnel.

The RCMP says that updates on any injuries or fatalities will be provided as information becomes available.
