Environment and Climate Change Canada says we should expect snow this week, but maybe not as much as some think.

Shannon Moodie is a meteorologist with Environment Canada. She says that there is a weather system expected to arrive in Manitoba Wednesday, and exit to the east on Thursday.

Some forecasters are saying that southern Manitoba will receive between 20 and 25 centimetres of snow with the system.

Moodie, however, says it's likely to be much less.

"Currently, right now, all of our guidance is pointing to 5 - 10 centimetres," she says.

Moodie does say that the system is still far out, and there is a possibility as always that things could change.

"We had the really big snowstorm at the beginning of the season but I know there hasn't been too much snow (since then). So usually when we have winters we don't get a lot of big snowfalls, then anytime we get anything over 5 centimetres people get a little bit excited. Again, it is far in advance, things can change."
