Police say a quick drug investigation has led to the arrest of a 35-year-old man.

On Thursday, Winnipeg Police Service's Guns & Gangs Unit was investigating someone they believe was trafficking methamphetamine.

Later that evening at 7:55 p.m., officers located the taxicab the suspect was a passenger in and conducted a traffic stop. While searching the suspect and taxi, officers found 916.4 grams of methamphetamine (with an estimated street value of $15,400) and $2,315 in money. They also seized some undisclosed items.

The WPS says the suspect was the only occupant.

The 35-year-old Winnipeg suspect is being charged with:

  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking

He is in custody.
