Nine-time Grammy-nominated singer Tauren Wells made his official debut as a lead pastor as the Church of Whitestone opened its doors for the first time.
In April 2023, Wells announced that his family of six would be packing up and moving from Houston to Georgetown to start up a church. Less than a year later, that dream has become a reality.
"Today, we officially launched Church of Whitestone with 3,500 friends! We’re embarking on an incredible journey to help people discover their God-authored identity through whole-hearted relationship with Jesus, and today was just the beginning."
Those who attended the service had nothing but good things to say.
"It was amazing! We drove from out of town, and enjoyed everything about the service. We will return when we can. The atmosphere was on fire, and the message was great! The staff and volunteers were so friendly, positive and helpful," said Alexis Peterson on Facebook.
"It was epic!!! I can’t wait til next week!! Thank you!!" said another person on social media. "It was definitely EPIC!!! Every Sunday, we GET to do this??? Here comes THE CHURCH!!!!!" said someone else.
Wells says this entire journey wouldn't be possible if they didn't have a team to surround them.
"329 Incredible men and women who have said ‘Yes! I’m All In, Show Me Where To Serve”!’" said Wells on Facebook. "We thank God that he had people here strategically to serve with, believe with, laugh with, pray with, eat with, and build with! It’s not a crowd, it’s a family. It’s not just some ‘cool new thing’, it’s an authentic movement of people who love Jesus, want to serve each other and turn the heart of Austin to God."
The mission of Church of Whitestone is to guide congregants toward unveiling a God-authored identity, fostering a whole-hearted relationship with Jesus and emboldening them to embrace their true selves.
