A single-vehicle collision has claimed the life of an 18-year-old from Russell, Man.

According to RCMP, the incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. Monday, Aug 17 near the intersection of Highway 1 and PR 257 near Virden, in western Manitoba.

RCMP say the vehicle being driven by the man was headed eastbound on the service road when it lost control in a curve approaching the intersection and rolled into the ditch.

The investigation shows the driver was not wearing his seatbelt at the time and he was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced deceased on scene.

RCMP say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision. RCMP are continuing the investigation.

The teen's death was the fourth on a Manitoba road over a 48-hour period.
