From moving moral characters to outward actions of faith, a number of new Christian movies are expected to show in theatres this year.

Breakthrough and Overcomer brought faith to audiences in a tangible way in 2019.

In 2018, the film I Can Only Imagine moved many to tears, showing the life of MercyMe singer Bart Millard. It also earned $17.1 million US domestically in its opening weekend, according to the Christian Post.

With faith-based films finding their way into theatres, what can Christian audiences expect in 2020? Here's five to watch for:

1. I Still Believe

From the Erwin Brothers' new studio, Kingdom, comes the life story of Christian artist Jeremy Camp.

The film will follow Camp as he marries his first wife, Melissa Lynn Henning-Camp, through the singer's grief following Henning-Camp's death due to ovarian cancer in 2001.

Themes of love, faith, and loss will be lived out on-screen by Riverdale actor KJ Apa and country singer Shania Twain, who play Camp and his mother, are two of the names featured in the biopic slated to be released on February 20, 2020.

2. Don't Say My Name

Don't Say My Name tells the true story of a survivor of human trafficking.

The film's main character, Adriana, is able to escape her captors and work towards healing. Don't Say My Name is expected to be screened by schools and organizations to spread awareness about human trafficking.

Overcomer actor Cameron Arnett plays a Homeland Security investigator in the film and says he hopes the film will be successful in raising awareness about the issue.

"Join us and let's make sure the names of our loved ones never have to be said," Arnett says.

3. Home Sweet Home

For a bit of faith-based romantic comedy, Home Sweet Home will delight with its take on modern-day romance.

Natasha Bure, daughter of Candace Cameron Bure, will star alongside Ben Elliott in the movie.

The lighthearted movie follows Victoria (Bure), a bored coffee shop owner, who is attempting to get to know Jason (Elliott). Jason runs a ministry that builds affordable housing, leading Victoria to not only volunteer with the ministry but to consider faith after interacting with those Jason is serving.

Catch the film in theatres in spring 2020.

4. I Am Patrick

On only March 17 and 18, 2020, moviegoers will have the chance to see the docudrama I Am Patrick: The Patron Saint of Ireland.

In the film, John Rhys-Davies, known for his role in The Lord of the Rings, portrays Ireland's patron saint and various events that took place throughout his life. Patrick's life and the saint's mission will be shared through historical reenactments, interviews with experts on the Irish saint, and writings from Patrick himself.

5. Heavenquest

Heavenquest: A Pilgrim's Progress is based on John Bunyon's 1678 work, The Pilgrim's Progress, the first novel that was written in English.

Since translated into over 200 languages, the allegory is now entering a new medium: film.

Created with a small budget, cast, and crew, Heavenquest will aim to put a fantasy spin on Bunyon's classic Christian work.
