A Greek man thanks God after missing a fatal flight, Winnipeg opens its first indoor splash park, and a local pastor prays with a stabbing victim. 

Pastor steps in with power of prayer after Winnipeg stabbing

After witnessing a stabbing, local pastor Melvina Guiboche stopped to pray with the victim and witnesses.

Guiboche and her husband were shopping at CF Polo Park when the store was being robbed. A worker attempted to stop the robbery but was stabbed in the process. The pastor felt the "presence of God" and prayed with the victim and two workers who were experiencing anxiety from the event.

Winnipeg's first indoor splash pad opens today

 

The first indoor splash park is part of a $9.7 million construction project for the Seven Oaks community. The Seven Oaks Pool is part of a two-year renovation project to improve the community gathering place. The splash pad is the first of its kind in a City-run facility.

A four-year-old girl dies after being hit by a car. The mother and daughter were crossing the street to meet the girl's brother for lunch at school. The family had been in the country for only a month after they arrived in Canada from refugee camps.

72 children 'miraculously saved from execution'

 

Children being persecuted in Nigeria claim Jesus appeared to them, saying "all would be well." The children's parents were being threatened with execution if they did not leave the Christian faith.

The children approached their mothers and said Jesus appeared to them, asking them not to renounce their faith.

After fighting with the airport, Antonis Mavropoulos was frustrated that he was not given access to board Ethiopian Airlines flight 302. Later, he was much more grateful for the airport's actions.

The Greek man was late to board his flight to Nairobi but the airport police would not let him on. Later, while waiting for his flight, Mavropoulos would learn the flight he was supposed to take had gone down, killing everyone on board.

A Winkler church finds a unique way to invest in marriages

Winkler's Mennonite Brethren Church has tapped into a unique strategy to help strengthen marriages in a really fun way.

Several times per year they host a Date Night Kit event between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. It's not an event where you stay at the church but rather, pick up the kit and leave. The kits contain different things to formulate a date from a conversation guide to gift cards at a coffee shop or ice cream shop. Other things are included as well such as candy, chocolates, little note pads and pens.
