It was a Christmas treat for 250 people that are part of the downtown community around Lighthouse Mission on Christmas Day.

Santa Lucia Pizza and a group of community volunteers partnered together to provide a special Christmas lunch at Lighthouse Mission on December 25.

"Christmas can be a tough time for our community," says Operations Manager, Beverly Ajtay.

"The colder temperatures take a toll on our people, so just having somewhere to go on Christmas Day where they are cared for, receive a healthy lunch and a chance to warm up goes a long way in showing someone they matter."

With roots going back over 100 years, Lighthouse Mission is located on the east side of Main Street between Logan and Higgins. The soup kitchen feeds 300 people a day throughout the week, providing food, warmth, friendship, spiritual guidance and support to Winnipeg's less fortunate.
