After over 3,500 KM of travel through Manitoba, the Canada Summer Games torch relays is headed for the finish line.

Winnipeg is the host city of the 2017 Canada Summer Games, and will welcome the Manitoba Hydro Torch Relay tomorrow, July 26. The Roly McLenahan Torch will travel along 67 legs through the streets of Winnipeg. "With the Games just days away, 2017 Games mascot Niibin is inviting residents to cheer on the torchbearers," organizers said in a release.

"Dancing" Gabe Langlois will run the first leg of the relay, which begins at 9:30 a.m. at Memorial Park. Torchbearers, who were chosen by a local selection committee in recognition of their dedication and passion for sport, youth, and community, will make their way through central Winnipeg, ending with a celebration at Manitoba Hydro Place starting at 12:00 p.m.

Torchbearers were selected to represent a wide range of Manitobans. Included among the long list is Wilma Derksen, and 89-year-old Alda Tait, who is Canada's oldest ringette player.

Organizers are hoping that people will gather along the route and cheer on torchbearers.
