A record of biblical proportions is making its way around the US so that many may have the chance to experience God's Word in living colour.

In order to allow everyone to experience the words of Christ in the fullest way, the world's longest illustrated Bible has been created.

The Wiedmann Bible Foundation is a new organization that was created with the goal of allowing artistic individuals to engage more fully with Scripture in a way that speaks to them - art.

Beyond language, images and pictures can describe and depict things in unique and new ways. The Foundation's new biblical creation consists of the complete Old and New Testaments and it is the only existing visual narrative of the holy text.

Willy Wiedmann painted a Bible, composed of over 3,000 illustrations which stretch over a kilometre. After its debut in the US in 2018, the Wiedmann Bible exhibit gained popularity and is one of the most popular displays today at the Museum of the Bible, reports BCNN1.

Tours are being scheduled within the US by the Wiedmann Bible Foundation to provide as many people as possible with a chance to see God's word in pictures, with exhibitions of the 3,333-image Bible planned for museums, town halls, stadiums, and other venues.

Wiedmann's illustrated Bible was created in Stuttgart, Germany, and found after Wiedmann himself had passed away. It was found and published by his son, Martin, alongside an essay about the work.

Carolyn Rossinsky, president of the foundation, says the impact of the Bible comes through human creativity.

"It is our understanding that art provides a perfect tool to experience the Gospel because it shapes the imagination of faith communities and enables people to become engaged in the story of the Bible. The Art of the Wiedmann Bible is such a tool, especially for those who prefer visual learning or are afraid to read the Bible," Rossinsky says.

Those who wish to support the North Carolina-based foundation and its future projects can do so by adopting a picture from the Wiedmann Bible. Those who adopt can choose to see their names featured beside their chosen illustrations or can donate anonymously. A personal message can also be added.
