A vacant house that caught fire last year near the Exchange District once again went up in flames Friday afternoon.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Services (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a vacant house just before 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2020.

The home was a two-and-a-half-storey located near Elgin Avenue and Isabel Street.

Heavy smoke was coming from the home as crews arrived on scene and an offensive attack was launched inside the house.

At 2:27 p.m., the fire was declared under control.

A search of the house was done. No occupants were found and no injuries have been reported.

WFPS says the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The vacant house had also caught fire and suffered significant damage about eight months earlier in April 2019.

No damage estimates are currently available.
