The Wabowden RCMP are asking for the public's assistance as they investigate a fatal hit-and-run.

On September 26, around 3:35 a.m., RCMP received a report of a possible hit and run along Highway 6, near Hwy 373, approximately 10 km south of Wabowden. 

RCMP alleged that a semi-truck driver discovered debris on the roadway and what appeared to be the aftermath of a collision, with a possible body. Officers attended the scene and located a deceased person in the ditch. 

Officers alleged the person was walking along the highway when he was struck and killed by a vehicle. 

The body was identified as a 34-year-old male originally from Manto Sipi Cree Nation, who was walking along the highway when he was struck by a vehicle.

Further investigation revealed that the victim had been travelling north on Highway 6 in a vehicle with four other occupants. Between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m., he was dropped off on the side of the road south of Wabowden.

It is believed that the collision occurred shortly after.
