A line of storms moving in from Saskatchewan has prompted watches and warnings from Environment Canada.

"The storms themselves developed rather quickly [early this morning]," Eric Dykes, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, says.

The storms are expected to stay in the west at this time. "We're expecting these storms will dissipate this morning . . . before the next round of storms develops this afternoon."

Dykes says Winnipeg could see some rain, and possibly storms, this afternoon. "It is dependent - I want to make sure I say - on how fast we see these [morning] storms clear out. Because if the storms are still there and we don't get the sunshine, we're not going to get the energy that's needed to develop the thunderstorms again this afternoon."

Dykes says Winnipeg should see some sunshine late this morning, and early afternoon, before possibly seeing some more stormy weather late this afternoon and early this evening.
