Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded to a pair of fires overnight. 

At 11:36 p.m., crews were called to a two-storey house in the 400 block of Alexander Avenue. Firefighters found an outdoor fire that had extended to the building. A fire attack was launched and hose lines were used to put the blaze out. It was declared under control 19 minutes later at 11:55 p.m.

No occupants were found when crews searched inside. No injuries were reported. 

Shortly before 12:30 a.m., WFPS crews responded to a fire at a one-and-a-half-storey home in the 200 block of Larsen Avenue. 

Firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the building and the fire was well involved when crews arrived on the scene. Initially an offensive fire attack was launched, but after conditions became unsafe, it turned into a defensive attack where the fire was put out from outside the home. The blaze was declared under control at 1:33 a.m.

Firefighters completed a search of the structure and no occupants were found. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
