Family sometimes lives on the other side of the world. Other times, you just want to get out of the snow. Here are some of the places CHVN listeners have travelled to for Christmas.

5. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Not a bad destination spot for Christmas. Myrtle Beach is known for its 60-mile string of beaches that run along the Atlantic Ocean. It also boasts one of the United States tallest Ferris wheels. You easily drive there if you choose, but you need to know that it's a 6000 kilometre (km) round trip.

4. Cuba

Hit the white-sand beaches in Cuba. That is where one CHVN couple went to spend Christmas. They left the kids at home for the 7000 km round trip, but don't worry. They brought them on another long Christmas trip to...

3. Germany

That same family brought their 14-month-old toddler and their 6-week-old baby to Germany for their Christmas break. That leads us to a great tip, suggested by a listener; bring an abundance of activities and snacks for your tiny humans. Flying those tiny humans there and back would add up to around 14,000 km.

2. South America

We had multiple people say they went to different countries in South America, including Brazil, Paraguay and Bolivia. A lot of southern Manitoba travellers have families who are in that area. Plus, who wouldn't want to get out of the snow and head to South America in December? The good news is that it is only 17,000 km to go both ways.

1. Australia

If you were to walk for 20,000 km, you would have walked halfway around the Earth. An Australian Christmas vacation totals to 29,600 km on a round trip. Plus, kangaroos. Need I say more?

Honourable Mention: Brandon

The furthest Kali has ever travelled for Christmas is coming to Winnipeg from Brandon. If you're wondering, that is a total drive of 428 km. But you get to see family every single year. That is probably worth it!

Pro travel tip:

Extend grace to other travellers. Many of them are just trying to get home, same as you.
