A special event has been planned this month to celebrate Winnipeg's 150th.

Evan Duncan, councillor for Charleswood, Tuxedo and Westwood has planned an all-day block party featuring various activities, including live music, family entertainment, flag football, food trucks and a fireworks display.

“There’s a history of celebration in our community, and this marks a great opportunity to come together and connect with one another. I encourage you to take part in the festivities and get to know your neighbours,” said Councillor Evan Duncan. “This celebration is 150 years in the making. I’m looking forward to marking this important milestone with the residents across our community!”

Some special guests and local sports stars will also be at Winnipeg 150 In The Ward, signing autographs in what Duncan is calling autograph alley.

Mayor Scott Gillingham says this event is a wonderful chance to mark this milestone anniversary together.

"The diversity and vibrancy of Winnipeg's neighbourhoods are one of our greatest strengths, and I know Charleswood – Tuxedo – Westwood excels in community spirit,"  said Gillingham. "Come out, have fun, and let's enjoy our amazing city together!”

Winnipeg 150 In The Ward will take place from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 15 at the Charleswood Dog Park at 3890 Haney Street.
