Two upcoming homeschooling conferences are a great way for parents and teenagers to connect with those in the homeschooling community, and find encouragement.

While homeschooling has children out of the public school, the idea is for family and community connection.

Gerald Huebner is on the board of the Manitoba Association of Christian Homeschool (MACHS).

There are two conferences coming up focused on homeschooling children in Manitoba.

"There's a lot of people that have started homeschooling, the numbers have more than doubled," since the pandemic began, according to Huebner.

The need for parents getting support for homeschooling their children is crucial to the success of it, according to Huebner. Events such as these conferences are just one way parents can connect, rather than feeling alone in their homeschooling journey.

"On March 19 we have a special event for homeschool teens, called Rethink and Reboot. It's meant to encourage and bring together teens from across Manitoba. It's an interactive event that will be refocusing who we are in Christ and what our priorities and actions are."

It will include some games and a keynote speaker for teenagers who are homeschooled, running from 7:00 - 9:00 pm.

"We have another conference coming up for the parents. We've got Todd Wilson which is one of our favourite speakers over the years. It's all about encouraging parents in these times as it's been challenging."

The Beyond Homeschool Survival, Cultivating Relationships conference will go over three consecutive evenings from March 25-27 and registration is free.
