Three people are dead, including a young child, following a fire in rural Manitoba.

The Manitoba RCMP says that emergency personnel responded to a residential fire on Provincial Road 265 between 73W and 74W, approximately 5 km west of Plumas, Man., early Friday evening.

When crews arrived they found a mobile home engulfed in flames, the RCMP says in a release.

Once the fire was extinguished, RCMP members and fire personnel entered the home and located the bodies of two adults and one child. The deceased, a 36-year-old male, a 28-year-old female, and a 2-year-old female, were all residents of the home.

Four other children who also resided in the home were safely located at a different location.

An autopsy has been scheduled.

The Office of the Fire Commissioner is assisting with the ongoing investigation.

Plumas is approximately 135 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg.
